• Xico Meirelles

    Born and raised in Mozambique, educated at Waterford in Swaziland and later at Natal University. On graduation, worked 4 years in Rome-Italy, on a range of projects in West Africa and Middle East. Returned to SA in the 1980’s to work for Revel Fox and partners. In 1987, established Meirelles Architects, later renamed Meirelles Lawson and more recently MLB architects. Fluent in several languages, he is responsible for the firm’s wide range of clients from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Quinton Lawson

    born and raised in the Eastern Cape, educated at Queens College, Queenstown, also studied at Natal University. After graduating, worked for Revel Fox, the last 4 years as a partner. Joined Xico in 1988, to establish Meirelles Lawson architects. With a keen interest in IT since the 1980's, he is the driving force behind the firm’s considerable investment in CAD and 3D modeling. Another important contribution to the firm is his expertise in environmental, landscaping and urban design.

  • Izak Burger

    Born and raised in Gauteng, Izak moved to Cape Town, after a year at Wits and a year of working as an architect-in-training in London. Continued his architectural studies at UCT, while working for Meirelles Lawson architects as a part-time student. On graduation in 1994, he joined the practice as a project architect and became a full partner in 1998. He is responsible for a fast-growing clientele in the property development industry, working mainly on commercial, residential and mixed-use projects.

  • René Grubert

    Born and raised in Windhoek, René obtained his architectural degree at UPE. He spent 2 years as an architect-in-training at Africa Architects in Cape Town, before joining MLB in 2003. In 2007 he became a partner at MLB, taking over a series of major projects including a Cash Centre for Absa in Brackenfell, HQ Offices for Prime Media in Green Point, 8 luxury townhouses in Higgovale, a multi-storey Mixed-Use development for Swish and now a large new prison for DPW, in Vanrhynsdorp.

  • Herman Joubert

    born and raised in Grahamstown, he also obtained his architectural degree at UPE. Worked 3 years in Cape Town for Jordaan, Hartwig, Steyn, Le Roux and then 7 years at Malherbe Rust in Paarl. He ran his own practice for 4 years before joining MLB in 2003, becoming a partner in 2007. He runs a series of multi-story projects for the firm, backed by his own team of architects and technologists. His extensive experience includes work on the Wine Industry, Heritage, Mixed Use and Commercial projects.

  • Klaus Neumann

    Born and raised in Munich, he obtained his architectural degree at Munich and Berlin Universities. For the next 4 years he worked in Berlin (Andras Scholz, prof Tonon & prof Steidle). He then ran his own practice for 6 years Munich, before joining MLB in 2003, becoming a partner in 2007. He has been responsible for some of the most important recent projects at MLB, including the 20 storey Pepper Club Hotel in the CBD, an A380 terminal for Cape Town International, Wembley Sq III and Somerset Sq.
